Andrew Davis discusses how our memories can serve as foundations for and barriers to the emergence we need to nurture if we hope to create the lives we want for ourselves.  And he will offer suggestions to build the foundations and tear down the barriers.  Emergence is a tricky idea, usually presenting itself in one of two ways.  We can emerge from some kind of struggle into something new and hopefully better, or we can find ourselves face to face with the emergence of something new—which usually causes the kind of struggle that leads us to change.    But it isn’t simple.  If it were we’d engage in the struggle without fear assured that every “down” would be followed by an “up.”
