About the James Reeb Award
Rev. Greta Crosby, Minister Emerita at First Unitarian Universalist Church, established the Reeb Memorial in 1987 to honor his sacrifice and further his commitment to human rights. Recipients are selected from among local organizations active in addressing basic human needs, grassroots empowerment, and human rights. Honoree representatives present at a Sunday service. The chosen organizations also receive a stipend and a celebratory event at First UU. Past events have also included related art shows in the church gallery, shared meals, and receptions open to the public.
