UU Common Read
Join First UU Church in the UUA’s Common Read, “Just Mercy” by Bryan Stevenson. This poignant book shares the author’s experiences as an attorney representing incarcerated folks who are underrepresented (literally) by legal counsel, such as children who’ve been tried as adults. He explores how racism is very much alive in our criminal justice system, both at the interpersonal and the institutional levels. You can purchase your copy of “Just Mercy” through the UUA’s online bookstore (www.uuabookstore.org). We’ll discuss the book over a brown-bag lunch on August 28 after the Sunday service, as well as at our August Social Action Meeting (Wednesday, August 24, from 7-8:30 p.m.). You are welcome to attend either or both discussions!
