“Darkest Hour” The film covers Winston’s Churchill’s uncertain few first weeks as prime minister when Britain was poised on the brink of war. Gary Oldman’s portrayal of Churchill won more than 25 Best Actor Awards, the most prestigious and well known being the Golden Globe and the American Academy Oscar. He was nominated for an additional 25 plus, but feel short of the “Best” accolade. Director Joe Wright and the make-up team rightfully won their share of acclaim. Oldman’s make up is a marvel. Kristin Scott Thomas plays Clemmie Churchill, well known as the balance to the PM’s outsize persona. Snacks to share are welcome.
